If you were to come from the perspective of human evolution these are all proxies for splitting each other’s head open with a rock.

It’s probably something more.

There’s beauty in watching an expert. This transcends the game metaphor, by the way. Watching an expert bartender pour drinks has something more to it, just like watching a professional basketball player sink threes endlessly can stir awe.

There’s beauty in things done well.
