A post about how good McDonalds is.
Ok. I know what you’re thinking.
“McDonalds is disgusting.”
Hear me out– that’s your ego talking. That’s you virtue signaling that you don’t like unhealthy food. I think most people will have conflicting emotions about McDonalds if they aren’t honest with themselves. I’m not saying you have to eat it often, or ever. I’m not even saying that you have to like eating it. It’s incredibly unhealthy for you to eat it at all, truth be told. But it is good.
McDonalds is chemically engineered for you to fucking love it. Period. End of story. They’ve built an entire business around it. Incredibly calorically dense, incredibly addictive food, served to you nearly instantly. If that isn’t a recipe for an addictive reinforcement loop, I don’t know what is.
Because of how ubiquitous McDonalds is for normal Americans, it’s easy to not fully grasp how huge it is.
McDonalds has over 38,000 stores in over 100 countries.
They serve over 69 million people daily.
It’s the world’s second largest private employer, only behind Walmart.
I don’t quite know what the point of this post is. Maybe it’s only to draw attention to this fact that we try to ignore as normal healthy people: McDonalds is always just lurking in the background, waiting to pounce.
McDonalds’ job is to figure out how to get you to consume as many hamburgers as possible. That’s it. Billions of dollars devoted to that cause. It’s crazy. There’s entire teams of scientists probably working literally while you read this, trying to figure out how to get you into McDonalds for your next Big Mac.
There’s always a next Big Mac. Oh yes. You’ll be back. A next Big Mac, a next McFlurry, maybe even just a coffee.
A bit scary, if you think about it.
